Global Warning

Our task is clear, but our time is short. The eternal destiny of billions is dependent upon our obedience to God’s command to sound out a global warning. Who will go? The call a missionary hears is a curious thing to those who have not experienced it. How do missionaries know God wants them to go to the foreign field, and how do they know where God wants them to go?

Local Funding

Jesus gave the church a very clear command—evangelize the world. But each church cannot do this alone. The only way we can reach the world before the “night cometh when no man can work” is to support the work of pioneering missionaries. One of the most effective, biblical means to support missions is through a method called faith missions giving.

Growth Symbols

As independent Baptists, we understand the need to plant churches. Our entire movement has historically revolved around missions and church planting. Our doctrinal position may be the glue that holds us together, but missions and church planting are the natural outcome of unity around doctrine. Independent Baptists don’t fellowship just to drink coffee and eat pie. We fellowship together as churches for the great purpose of sending forth laborers into the harvest fields of the world.

Devoted for Life

Mrs. Virginia Sisk and her husband, Dr. Don Sisk, went to Japan as missionaries in 1964. After returning from Japan, Dr. Sisk helped missionaries and churches around the world through Baptist International Missions, Inc. (BIMI). The Sisks moved to Lancaster, California, in 2003, where Dr. Sisk serves as the missions department director of West Coast Baptist College, and Mrs. Sisk teaches the class “The Missionary’s Wife.”

The Great Omission

Recently, a gentleman took issue with an article I wrote on the subject of Calvinism. In the course of our discussion, I said, “Look, smarter people than us have debated this issue for years without convincing the other side. It seems that a lot of time is spent on the internet and in blogs criticizing and arguing...”

Planting Churches in the Philippines

Throughout the history of Christianity, various churches and individuals have been presented with opportunities to impact the generation in which they lived. Many have taken advantage of those open doors and have been used of God to bring millions into the Kingdom. Others, through lack of faith or leadership, have missed great opportunities.
